Charge your electric car in good time – and drive 1 cent per mile | news

Driving a mile in an electric car will cost just 1 pence from tomorrow – a third of the price of cooking the kettle.

One of the UK’s largest utility companies, Ovo, is introducing an Electric Vehicle (EV) tariff that charges owners 5p for every unit of electricity used to power their cars – one-third of the 16.6p for normal use.

Low electricity prices will boost sales of electric vehicles by making them cheaper than gasoline and diesel competitors in the long term due to lower operating costs. Currently, a midsize electric car costs around £ 10,000 more than an internal combustion engine, before tax breaks.

Ovo says it would cost £ 76.21 for electricity to drive 7,400 miles, the average
