Perkins coaching young Erebus academy talent

Veteran co-driver and Supercars broadcaster Jack Perkins is passing on his skills to the next generation of motorsport talent.

The second-generation racer has stepped into a training role for the Erebus Academy, to help develop emerging talent, when his schedule allows.

Recently married Perkins spent time at Winton Motor Raceway on Tuesday.

The track day included aspiring drivers from Dunlop Super2 Series, Hyundai Excels and Toyota 86 Series.

Using one of Erebus Motorsport’s spare Supercars and coached by Perkins, the seven young racers focused on essential driving skills.

Perkins, a veteran of 16 Bathurst starts, was buoyed by the opportunity to help develop young drivers in the early stages of their careers.

“Great to work with some of the next generation drivers today as part of the @erebusmsport academy!” the accomplished broadcaster wrote.

“Young blokes all applied themselves really well, adapted to a Supercar quickly, and no mistakes!!”

Two-time Australian Kart Champion Jay Hanson joined the experience, along with fellow Super2 competitor Jaylyn Robotham.

Hyundai Excel racers Bailey Sweeney, and Jobe Stewart also completed laps in the Erebus Supercar.

The program was overseen by Erebus CEO Barry Ryan at the regional circuit, with several Erebus Motorsport engineers and mechanics also in attendance.

Perkins will again partner with Erebus Motorsport’s Will Brown for October’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

A result went begging for the duo in 2021, following a power steering failure.

Bathurst podium finisher Brodie Kostecki will again be joined by David Russell.

The Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the Bunnings Trade Perth SuperNight across 30 April – May 1. Click here to buy tickets.
