Policeman “shocked” at the condition of the car, which was driven with the tail hanging | News from the UK

One police officer said he was “genuinely shocked” to see a driver driving more than 50 kilometers on the M25 in a car that was so badly damaged that the back of the car drooped.

Surrey Police Department PC Serge Hadfield stopped the car near Cobham on Sunday after a member of the public called the police.

He found the bumper of the Porsche “literally out of the trunk”.

“[Hadfield] couldn’t believe we only had one call at the time, “Surrey police told the PA news agency.

Police tweeted a picture of the vehicle showing the damage to the back of the car. “We stopped this vehicle that we saw on the M25 near Cobham,” they wrote.

“The driver told officers he had an accident with the car on the M25 in Kent and thought it was okay to continue driving in that condition.”

The driver, in their late 50s to early 60s, was stopped at Cobham Services in Surrey after being picked up at Junction nine.

He gave a positive breath test but was below the legal limit for alcohol consumption, Surrey police said.

The car was “prohibited from being used in traffic” and the driver was reported because he was driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.

“The driver will now look to alternative travel arrangements,” they added.
