Shell V-Power pair Will Davison and Anton De Pasquale have continued their domination of qualifying at the Supercars’ Melbourne 400. The Ford teammates secured poles for the final two of the four 20-lap sprint races at Albert Park this weekend, swapping positions at the front of the grid. Davison and De Pasquale set a hot pace around the Australian Grand Prix circuit on Friday morning, staving off challenges from championship leader Shane van Gisbergen and defending Bathurst champion Chaz Mostert. “It was a real cool battle (with De Pasquale),” Davison said. “The car was really nice, really well balanced for the hard tyre. “The car was super predictable and it was just down to trying to get those 100ths (of seconds) out of yourself, so I really enjoyed that. “I took a few extra risks in the braking zone and it paid off.” Van Gisbergen won four out of the first five races across events in Sydney and Tasmania to build a 67-point championship lead over De Pasquale. The first race of the Melbourne 400 will get underway at 2.20pm on Friday, with Groving Racing surprise packet David Reynolds to start from pole. Australian Associated Press
